View Full Version : mark your calendars Nov 11-12
Autoshow in motion is coming to town at the Fiesta Texas parking lot.
Folks let me tell you, I did this event last year and it was amazing. You essentially get to drive any GM vehicle they have i.e. The Vette, Caddy's, pretty much the entire line.
So if you are a car nut like most of us are since we are MINI owners (we just happen to own the best :) ) Sign up for this. If you havent recieved a registration form in the mail dont worry you can sign up here..

Will they by any chance have the Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky there?

Not us, I sold the first Solstice we got in less than 15 minute after it arrived to the dealership. The original buyer could not wait and backed off so I called the next person in line. The funny thing is, we do not discount it a penny, nor not allowed to sell it over sticker. BTW, I test drove the car, it is alright, peppy motor, not as fast as the MCS, handling is close to the MCS (keep in mind, I did not have an opportunity to take it for a long run, so can not give more feedbacks on handling characteristics, however it feels tight), quality is over GM standards, poor compared to MCS. Overall, nice looking car, good performance, and a lot of cool factor.

The quality of the Saturn one looks like it might be better than the Solstice. I think the Saturn is better looking than the Pontiac too. I would think if you took one and pushed it to its limits then it would hopefully have less understeer than a MINI, since the GM cars are rear wheel drive.
Speaking of rear wheel drive...I had an interesting adventure on the way home in the Ford Explorer rental. The tires on it are definetly not new and the thing handles like crap, so I was hoping it wouldn't rain. Well, I was coming home from work and turning the corner into my neighborhood, made the left turn and crossed the intersection, started straightening out to go down the road, and all of a sudden the rear snaps out on me. My front end is pointing towards the opposite lane, so I countersteer and push the gas, then it snaps over the other way so I'm pointed at the sidewalk. Then I countersteer again and ease off the gas at the right time and thankfully I'm headed straight. phew! I will never buy one of those that is for sure. :eek2
glad you survived!! The MINI handles pretty well in the rain... Thank God for DSC :)
