Hey guys, great site! I'm new to the club so I just wanted to say hello and pose a question. Does anybody have any experience with putting a roof rack/bike rack on a mini? I saw a really awesome dark grey MCS last night with a Yakima rack and it looked really good. So I was just wondering if anybody knows what racks work better than others on the mini, and what to avoid. Thanks guys! I hope to get to motor with you guys soon!

It's peanut butter jelly time! :dancing (I couldn't resist)

LOL!

Actually Steve aka Azzul would be a good one to ask, I believe he has a rack but its not a roof rack. Its more stealth and looks cool.

In fact, I have some Yakima bike rack parts from my roof rack on previous vehicles, sitting in my garage. I don't have the proper MINI towers, however.

I have the MINI FINI rear rack and attachment. However, MINI FINI went out of business this summer, so that option would be out for you. The MINI FINI rear rack is very integrated with the MINI so it looks slick.

Anyway, roof racks are okay. I would only put one on a MINI if it was easy to take off and put on - don't want that on a "spirited" drive.

Thanks for the Welcome! I can't wait to get out on some of the back country roads around here and go to some events. It's fun to see a good community in the area.

Yeah, I've heard good things about the MINI FINI but you're right, I can't get that now. Thanks for the help though I'll have to think about how to get my bike on the MINI without compromising a really fun drive.

Actually, Berk and I were talking about maybe going for a run after the European car club meet tomorrow evening. If you can make it then stop by the parking lot of Barnes and Noble at 1604 and Bandera. There should be a lot of VWs, BMWs, and other european cars parked together. I think its usually around 7:30PM. Welcome SBJeser. :thumbsup
