Hi Folks. I was born and raised in So. Calif. - but don't hold that against me! My family and I are moving to your beautiful state in 2 days. It will be quite a change. We will be living in the DFW area in Southlake. We can't wait to explore and make new friends. I happened to notice a post by Scudderiamini on the NAM site this evening and was gratified to see that there was a Mini Club in TX. I'm on my 2nd MINI. I traded my '03 MCS for a pure silver '05 MCSC JCW about 6 mo. ago. In addition to the "Works" kit it has H-sport springs, rear control arms, A.C. Schnizer rims and Aero kit. I had the dealer install the factory alarm and ipod interface. I just put in the modified throttle body - wow! It makes more of a difference than I was expecting. I have owned a Porsche and a BMW but I've never had as much fun as in the MINI. Of course we have tons of questions about our new home but I'm especially anxious to find the MINI Guru in the DFW area. Good mechanics are like gold as you know so I'd appreciate a tip. Also, which dealer? I'm still under warranty for maintenance and such so I'll be looking for tips there too. SO, If you see a silver cabriolet
with Cali plates - give a honk. Happy Motoring!

Welcome aboard GetReal. What you will find is that Texas is a HUUUUGE state. But its also one with lots of history and the folks here are just plain nice. (most of them) :D
As Keith said, check out metroplex MINI, they are good bunch over there, you will also find the Houston folks on that site too.

Thanks! Where are the twistys?Don't know where all of the twistees are, but the ones we frequent around the San Antonio area are in the hill country, northwest of San Antonio, near Bandera, Kerrville, and, yes, Utopia. Some unbelievable roads.
You'll need to ask this same question up near Dallas to the MINI groups up there.
And don't forget the Hill Country Rendezvous in September.
BTW, welcome to TX. Like me, a TX transplant, it will take you a while to be considered an official Texan (if you ever are). ;)
Happy motoring.
Having lived in DFW and down here, I can tell you there is nothing in Texas like the roads down here in the Hill Country. I know that the Houston Folks were impressed and loved them when they came down. One of them commented how this one piece of the road reminded them of the Dragon. You'll have to come down one day so we can do a run.
