Daniel has been or MINI Service Advisor for around a month now.
How does everyone feel he is doing with this?

I can't say...haven't been in yet since he took over. We did notice a less than stellar install job on scuderiamini's JCW intake this week. Not really the SA's fault, but still signs the quality could improve. My own car had a loose rivet on a kick panel from the last time it was in causing it to rattle. I will have to stop in sometime though for some parts, cleaning stuff, or swag and see what it's like. :thumbsup

Sorry, I haven't been there since then. However, I am coming up to my 45k service in a few months.

Is Berk the only person that has first hand experience with Daniel. Just trying to get a feeling for things, we really want the Service Department to improve. Please chime in if you have first hand experience with Daniel.

Daniel was my SA in 2003; he always provided accommodating service within the constraints of his authority and control. I’ll leave out all the “beyond his control” stories until you ask about service tech performance. On a personal note, his demeanor has always been professional and courteous in whatever capacity he has served since then.

Are there plans to have a designated parts department service person for the MINI?

I agree, he's been absolutely great to me. I dropped my MINI off after work the day before I was scheduled for service and he fit me in that afternoon. Needless to say I was happy to be back on the road that night and not be without my car for a day. I was honestly really impressed. I know he's got his hands full trying to gain control on the situation, but I think he's doing a great job. As far as the tech part, I haven't had any complaints yet.

BTW, Renee in parts is really good. I like working with him as well.

I second that. I've ordered some parts from him and it went really well. :thumbsup

I agree, service tech performance and the quality assurance is another story. I have high hopes for Daniel and I'm sure my future dealings with him should be more professional, respectful, and courteous than they ever were with Bill. I will let you know in about 14,000 miles pending any unexpected hiccups. :thumbsup

Although they couldn't duplicate a couple of intermittent problems Daniel was very professional, explained what they fixed and how they fixed it and sent a tech with me when I picked up the car to see if I could duplicate the intermittent problems. My car is as stubborn as I am and performed perfectly while the tech was in the car. Anyway, I was very happy with him and gave an overall 5 out of 5 on the phone survey with MINIUSA.

As of Monday morning, Daniel is no longer our Service Advisor. Daniel has moved over to BMW, and we now have Robert who was a BMW Service Advisor. I don't know Robert, so all I can say is that he works hard and I always see him working. Be it with a client on the service drive or talking to clients on the phone. From what I can see he is very good. :thumbsup

I was hoping to meet Robert last Friday but he was off. I left some cards with his fill-in for the day and passed on an invitation for him to join LSMC. It would be nice if there could be a dialogue with that department since most members are still in the warranty period and would have a least two occasions to experience service.

My car is long past the warranty service period. It was delivered on opening day for the MINI Center and I’ve been reflecting on my experiences with the service and parts departments over the past three years. It was rocky for the first two years with some very poor workmanship coming out of the service bays. Forget how I was poorly treated as a customer & human being, I just wanted the work to be done right the first time and not require extra visits to correct service tech mistakes. Now the praise, one MINI service tech was always conscientious with his work, Jesse Carlos. Not only did he fix the things he was supposed to fix without searching for an avoiding excuse, he would also correct the mistakes made by other techs. He would go the extra mile and explain any work he performed and would engage in discussion (which includes listening) over other issues not included in the service write-up. He is still available for discussion, that’s what is truly a “service technician”.

There are heroes in the parts department too and that leads to the point of this reflection; things are looking up.

I stopped by yesterday because of a burning smell. Seems as though there is still some Kosmoline (however you spell it) burning off. As for the experience I thought Daniel was a good service advisor but Robert went the extra mile. I went in with no appointment and was out of therein less than 30 minutes. Very pleased!!!
