So I walked out to my car yesterday and I noticed that the passenger side, side light was missing. Crap. So today I drove over to the MINI Center to get it replaced. While they show the part in inventory, they can't find it. So, they are ordering me one; it should be in on Tuesday.
Then, as I am walking back to my car, I notice that the "R" and "S" are missing of my rear "COOPER S" badge. Who wants that? Worst, there are some scratch marks where, obviously, the thief tried to scrape it off with a screwdriver.
Anyone know how to remove scratches?

Aw nuts - sorry to hear about that!
start with the easy, light stuff first to rub it out, then get more and more aggressive as you go on.
I'd start with a swirl remover (like 3M, get it at a autobody/paint store) them move up to polishing compund.
Last time I was at MINICenter, I think Faron mentioned that he had some polishing compound there for small scratches....
I'd ask him (couldn't hurt, right?)
Then go to a rubbing compound of that doesn't work....
I recall buying a pouch-up kit once for a Miata "in a past life" and it had something similar - ie two kinds of compound...

It's more than a surface scratch, it's down to the primer.

If you want it done professionally go by Start to Finish behind The Wash Tub on Bitters. They should be able to take care of it. They also have a deal where they will take care of all your chips, scratches and dings for years for $399.00. If you don't mind tell then I (Hershel) sent you.
Dang Steve that really is terrible. I am willing to bet it was some young punk who wanted his Honda to say Type R or RS. Some people really just have no respect for other peoples property. Its sad really. :(
