Harebrain and I are Looking for few of you who have big hearts to give us a hand. Here in San Antonio exists a program called RAMP. Over 400 people who are in wheelchairs are unable to get in their own home. What we are looking for is people that are willing to do a little wood work, and build ramps so that they can enter their own home easier. We are looking for at the very least 7, but would like 10 people to help us. The plans and the wood will already be at the home when we arrive, we would need to bring tools and a willing back. Normally they will ask you to bring a lunch, but if we can make this happen..... Lunch will be on Faron. The date is April 21ST! I know MINI Owners are a great group of people...Just think how cool it would be to show up with a bunch of MINIs to build a ramp and help someone get into their home. Ask all your questions here, and we will respond as quick as we can. If you know that you would like to join us send me an email at minifaron@yahoo.com
Thanks,
:dancing Faron & Hershel :dancing
Harebrain & I do not want this to be a one time deal. So we will make it as cool as we can in order to help as many people as we can! By the way I have another Charitable event in the works. As many of you know my youngest daughter has Asthma, so the funds from the next will go to the Asthma Camp! The Asthma event will be HUGE and we will raise some big money! On top of that it will include driving our MINIs in the Hill country!

I wish I could. I have a three day Air Force training event that falls right in that time frame.
Please keep us posted, though, as my wife and I would like to get involved in some volunteer work.

Yes, April 21St is a Friday & this is out in front of someones house. So yes this is during the day. I am sure that with this much advance notice almost anyone can get a day off. I understand we are asking for you to take a vacation day, but we would be helping someone get into their house.

Hey guys (and any girls out there), just for clarification RAMP will provide tools. However if you can bring your own hammer or any tools of your own that you prefer to use (hammer, saw, tape measure, etc). Also, please make sure you mark your tools so everyone will know whose they are and you don't lose them.
I worked with a youth group last Saturday building two ramps and when we were finished it was great to see the man come down his ramp and say "now I can get out and get some sun. She (referring to his wife) can't keep me locked up in the house anymore!" They were very grateful. It's great to be a part of giving someone a little bit of freedom.
:thumbsup

Seriously my obligation on the 21st is a military training obligation. I really wish I could get out of it. But do keep me in mind for the future.

I really, really would like to help out Faron, but I just took one vacation day this week and I have to take one April 28th. That leaves me with 3 more for the rest of the year. :(

That's cool I understand, but you can be just as helpful if you help recruit people to join us. Trust me its going to hard to find 7 people who are willing to give us a hand on a week day. Keep your heart in the right place and help get people to join us!!!
Thanks,
Faron

Things are looking good so far, we now have a total of 5 that are committed to this project and 2 that wish they could (don't worry guys we will have more opportunities). That is great for it only being posted for 48 hours but we need more help. Due to some questions about RAMP I have attached some information that should clear up any concerns and get a few more people interested. I am new to this whole forum thing so if you can't see the attachment I'll try again. Thanks for being willing to serve!

Faron is needs a list of people that do want to go. If you can give up this Friday for a really good cause, shoot me an email!
minifaron@yahoo.com :)
So the group of 7 or 10 all show up and build the ramp together? I'd like to help but I am totally not mechanically inclined.

:eek2 :( :(
Faron, tentatively put me down on the list, I will have to put in a request for the day off. We have a vacation black out period during that time because we will be under contract negotiations with our Union workers. Hence the managers have to be deployable in case they strike. I dont think it will be a problem though. I'm hoping my back will be better by then.
