Jolene

Ok, it's time I told my story. My name is Jolene and I am a Hot Orange MCS convertible with the Sunset and Blue seats and the Sport package. I can certainly tell you that I am not only good looking but I like to be driven fast! (I am not easy though, so you guys watch yourselves!). I was born a little over a year ago and I live in Fredericksburg. I allow two humans live with me - Frank and Ann. Frank is the one who pushes my buttons and makes me go fast. Ann is jealous of me and is the one who named me Jolene - because I stole her man!!!
Anyway, Frank and Ann were shopping for a sporty car early last year and initially went to drive a M**** M**** (sorry about the profanity but it can't be helped and it would be inappropriate to spell out the "other" car on this site). Their daughter, Ceira, was with them. Ann didn't like the M**** M**** any more so Ceira piped up and said , "Let's go drive A Mini Cooper!". Chagrinned, Frank and Ann didn't even know that Mini had a convertible. So, off they went to the Mini Center.
When they got there, they met initially with Richard Gutin, the Sales Manager and were then introduced to Alex Drabant, Motoring Advisor. They looked at the convertible but because of time constraints, they did not take a test drive. A sales brochure was received so that the specifications and options of the car could be studied.
About a week later, Frank and Ann went back to the Mini Center and ordered a silver convertible. However, a few days later, Ann called Alex and asked that they color be change to Hot Orange and I also got those really sexy seats! So, the seed was sowed to bring me to life!
Unbeknownst to me, Ceira had recently moved to San Antonio. After a while, she started to work at Cappy's Restaurant and is still there as one of the managers. However, about to turn 30, she had not been meeting many people her age. Frank suggested she call Alex and ask him to the movies. But alas, he's was "tied up".
I arrived in San Antonio on April 18 and Frank and I drove down from Fredericksburg to take me to my new home. Life was good as I learned my way around the Hill Country and found some really great, curvy roads! Mind you, I never exceeded the posted speed limit - a young lady would never do such a thing!
On June 4th, I was loaded onto a 16 foot trailer and towed behind an F150, first to Amarillo, and then, the next day, to Frisco, CO. That's where I and Frank and Ann were to spend the summer. Talk about some great mountain roads to drive!! And the scenery! I even went over Trail Ridge Road three times, once with my top down!! And the greatest thrill was going from Aspen to Leadville (over Independence Pass) in 70 minutes!!! Mind you, I never exceeded the posted speed limit!
One day in early July, Ann told me, "I think something is going on in San Antonio". It seems that Ceira had gone back to the mini Center (at Frank's request, to buy Ann some Mother's day presents. About that time, Ceira and Alex did go to a movie or some such thing. Well, things started to progress rather quickly and Ann told Frank that they had to fly down to San Antonio to find out what was "going on". Heck, I could have told them (but they never asked)! Seems like the Motoring Advisor and the restaurant manager wanted to - how should I say this - join forces and drive their own Mini! Gadzooks! What's next!
Well, all the requisite discussions, meeting of families, screening and selecting people and venues to bring this whole "mini" affair to culmination! Mini appetizers, mini flowers, mini groomsmen and mini flower girls - all had to be arranged. And here I was sitting in a garage in Frisco, CO! But wait, there is more!
November 13th was the date selected (a Sunday when the guys and gals at the Mini Center were not working). On October 2nd, I was loaded back onto the trailer (was this becoming a habit?) and back to Fredericksburg we drove. Just in time, too! It had begun to snow in the Rockies and my tires wanted no part of that.
Everything was falling into place and the day arrived. The wedding was at Canyon Springs Golf Course (in Stone Oak) in font of a waterfall. Neat setting! Anyway, with only five people knowing about what was to be my shining, moment, I was about to play a really important part in this shindig! After everyone was seated down by the waterfall and the bridesmaids and groom and groomsman lined up on either side of Father Dick, Frank put Ceira in my passenger's seat and with Faron Smith and Susie Clarke leading the way, I made my grand entrance driving the bride to the aisle!!! How cool is that!!!!
Well, that's about the end of my story (or the beginning, depending on how you look at it). I am still tooling around the Hill Country and in a few weeks I head back to Frisco. There's a good looking black hardtop up there that I just may have to make a move on! I recently linked up with a good looking white over red MCS hardtop (who lives with Rob and Sally Brown here in town) and his name is Wilbur II. We've been on only one date and he knew so really good back roads around here. Mind you we never exceeded the speed limit!!! One in every port, as they say! Bye for now and you all drive safely!
PS: If you'd like to see some pictures of my role, in all this, go to www.winfieldlittle.com/ca. I'm about halfway thru the photos! Dang was I good looking!
