How many of you would be interested in attending a trackday event much like the one going on this weekend that Farron from the MiniCenter sets up?

Will,

FYI ,

Myself and other members of the STMC have participated in the autocrosses held over at the Alamodome. They are a lot of fun to run, and to just watch. You can even go for rides with teh drivers.

Here's their site:

I have even contacted the Porsche club down in the valley, and they hold events at an abandonned airport (I think). They welcome our participation. Usually cost are $80 /day, and they have a 1.6 mile track. They provide all the cones, timers, and have some loaner helmets. Next event is in September.
They are at:

For what it's worht

If you've never auto crossed before. I strongly suggest that you go check out the SA sports car group at their next event at A-Dome parking lot. Does not cost a thing to watch, and if you want to ride on a run, just ask any driver, it's also free, but you'll have to borrow a loaner helmet. You can get a quick feel for the ropes and what's required.

Usually the clubs offer a day for novices and these are great events to attend. You can slo check out teh web sites previooussly posted and they have a saection abouot driving which is quite helpful. At the novice events The discuss safety, walk the track, talk about the lines for the course, then you drive with an experienced driver in your car. Usually they'll drive your car first to showe you around, then it's all yours. You pick the speed your most comfortable with.

You will get addicted pretty fast, and learn a lot about what you're car can actually do.

D-Bee that sounds good. We should do this as a group! How fun would it be to see a bunch of Mini's out there getting better times than these "sportcars" :D
