has anyone plugged their ipod into an adaptor for the cig lighter and had it work out? i have bought three and each blew (one with smoke and all). i took it in and they suggested it was the adaptor at fault???

what adapter is it?

I would suggest to get the MINI Aux input or the official MINI Ipod Adapter. Anything else is risky. I had some issues with the Dension Ice-link+ in my car and it was determined that was causing the electrical problems that I was having and I ended up paying a lot more for an iPod adapter than I wanted to. I for sure wouldn't keep doing what you are doing if you know it keeps blowing. :thumbsup

yeah the integrated MINI adaptor is really nice to have. I like controlling theipod through the radio. I just wish it showed song and artist names.

Wierd..

I use the belkin adapter to power the ipod and an aux plug to get the audio to the stereo. I have had zero problems with the adapter in my car and in my wifes car prior to installing icelink in hers..

Do you have a voltmeter or friend with a voltmeter? You could check the output on the plug to see what it is reading.
