I’m doing some beta testing of a diagnostics program for the MINI. Let me know if you would like to participate by allowing a scan of your vehicle. It will take about 10 minutes and will not alter your ECU/DME in any way. No “big brother is watching” documentation is taken, only the type of after market modifications or stock configurations info for the purposes of showing compatibility. The more MINIs scanned, the better the final product.
I have the capability to perform data logging with the vehicle in motion if you want to go a step further. However, at this point I lack the skill to interpret the raw data generated by the engine and drive train systems to be of any use to you. But, that will change with some experience on my part and further product development.

So Kevin, you want to hear more. Just about everything in the MINI talks. Some are inane parts that make you wonder why they were given a voice. Then there is the interesting stuff, like the engine, transmission, wheels and brakes. This software is all about listening with a little bit of talking back. I’m very excited about the data logging capabilities; it captures everything. The engine stuff is logged on a spreadsheet and the sample rate is amazing. The latest version has made numerous improvements over the last few programs, so I’m sure it will be a robust product once released. That’s why the more MINIs scanned and logged, the better. The product is called BiM-COM. It is designed for BMWs and MINIs. Here is link to product preview. http://www.ross-tech.com/bim-com/comingsoon.html
Yup thats a very good product. I had the VAG-COM for my '01 Audi S4. Very cool, I could figure out my 1/4 mile time, 0-60 mph, HP and TQ numbers.. All kinds of stuff. Most of which I believe will be the same for the BIM. How did you get invovled in the beta testing... Furthermore How can I get on board.

Yes, I remember Andy was working on a tool. In fact Todd up in Denton mention getting it a few weeks back to help him diagnose Bill's problems. I haven't spoken to Todd yet to see how it was going. They stopped working around the 4th untll the software was in.
I will check it out this pm, off to ride motorcycles through Northeast TX.
And thanks for reminding us about cool products out there. I also heard a rumour that Andy has joined the Ban Club:) Is that true?

Looking for 2006 model year volunteers. To further test BiM-COM compatibility with newer ECU versions I would like to scan your MINI. As stated in earlier posts the diagnostic software will not alter your program. If you want to take some data log samples while the car is in motion we can do that also; I’m better at interpreting the data now although still not an expert.
For undisclosed reasons, development is being held closer to the chest so the former public accessible link to the information page listed in post #3 is no longer valid although development is still moving forward; with your help of course.
:( poor 2005's... Kicked to the curb already
How bout a starbucks night for testing!!!

I've got an '06 that you can hook up to. I'm actually pretty curious to see what the data log would look like. So I take it the data logger has only one way communication with the car? Just let me know when.

Thanks for the offer Richard but my work schedule is in the way of getting the important stuff done. :(
I would still like to scan some 2006 models :); Justin did his part but I had a hiccup on mine so the 2006 model is still un-scanned territory.
Keith have they released the official version of the tool? I'd really like to purchase it when it does come out.

Not yet; there is an undisclosed obstacle preventing release. It’s hard to believe but we still need a 2006 to scan.

Justin is stepping up to the plate again for the welfare of all MINIdom :thumbsup.
The hiccup on my part was a device driver loading failure (new hard drive & OS + legacy notebook), not any issue with Justin’s vehicle.
