Anyone know of someone that does guitar lessons. I've been wanting to learn how to play the Acoustic Guitar for some time. I started years ago but didnt stick to it. It was when I lived in Dallas and the guys studio was in a bad spot for me to get too.

I know a few of you guys play.

Will, I don't teach but Jeffrey from the strictlyea.com group teaches. I have known Jeffrey for several years and he is perhaps the best guitar player I have ever met. You might go on over to the strictlyea.com group and PM him. Let him know that I suggested you go to him.

The only problem is he doesn't post, read, or login to SEA anymore. I will second everything Steve said about his guitar playing though. It is phenomenal. He gives lessons on Thursdays I think now at a rehearsal studio off of Bandera Rd. If you want his AIM, cell, or e-mail then I can get you that. He's a good guy. :thumbsup

sweet! Thanks guys. I got the official go from the wife yesterday to once again buy a guitar. So I'm on the look out for a great deal on a good accoustic guitar.

Greg, I'll be calling you in a bit

Well I started my guitar lessons last weekend, had my second this Sunday. I ended up going with a young UTSA Music student, Mark Bueno. The guy is amazing!!

So maybe in 6 months I can have a guest spot with the Tim and Bob show :)

Well I am quickly learning that the type of strings you have can really change the way the guitar sounds and feels. What type of strings do you guys use? I tried those elixers but I didnt like them. They felt very slick to me, probably because of the nanoweb coating. I put on some Martin steel and silk strings last night and so far I love them.

I was just curious what you used on your acoustic Steve.

I was just curious what you used on your acoustic Steve. Will, I use Elixirs. My playing partner, Don, used D'Adarrios. When it all comes down to it, believe it or not, different strings sound different on different guitars. You have to play 'em to decide.

I use Elixirs because, in my opinion and in my ear, they are the easiest to play and the sound good. Also, with the amount of playing I do, they last a long time. I change strings at least once per month; with non-coated strings, that might be once a week.

Welcome to the never ending string discussion.

Now, that said, come out and see us at Fralos this Saturday evening from 7pm to 930pm and watch us put those strings to use. :thumbsup

I use Elixirs also on my acoustic. I actually prefer the slicker feel from the coating and they don't seem to eat up my fingers as much, plus they last a lot longer than non-coated strings. I also think they sound better. I tried Ernie Ball strings and a few other non-coated but didn't like any. I think there are also some other companies making coated acoustic strings now too.

However, it is totally different for electric guitars. Elixir electric guitar strings are terrible IMO. I used to use GHS Boomers, but now I'm using D'Addario. I'm liking the D'Addario a lot better. :thumbsup
