I've watched movies and played games on a couple DLPs that some friends have. I like them better than lcd/plasma. I am trying to talk my mom into buying my dad a DLP for Christmas. DLP seems to be the best, unless you want one you can hang on the wall. Samsung makes some real nice ones. :thumbsup
Well wife is completely opposed to it but I am working on that.

I've got a Samsung DLP (720p/1080i, the new ones are 1080p). We like it a lot (Spurs were in HD last night, you can see the whiskers on Manu's face). What I've noticed is that plasma's look good when viewing them at about any angle. DLP's have less of a viewing angle, but for most applications that is not a problem. We like ours and would get another one.

I've got a Samsung 1080P DLP and LOVE the picture quality. The bulb burned out after only 200hrs of viewing, but the included in-home warranty replaced it without a hitch. Our previous was a 3-chip 720p LCD projection TV (Sony) and while that had much better build quality (at nearly double the price, too) the image on the Samsung is flawless.
Well we got the 61 inch DLP Samsung and we love it. So far no DISH hooked up just the PS3. Blue Ray Discs look amazing, we have Talledega Nights and its just jaw dropping. Normal DVD's are nice looking too.
The PS3 games look great on it, hoping we get the DISH hooked up Tuesday. Was suppose to be done Friday but the guy that come out didnt want to go in the attic, or rather he wanted me to pay him 40 bucks on top of what I was already paying DISH.
