I know some of you have been looking forward to Seeing the new MINI Cooper on the 17TH. However we have decided to change the date to the 23RD of this month. You should be getting a post card early next week.

We went and did a test drive today. I like the new MINIs. Very grown up, very, refined, very fast. I love the feel of increased quality in the interior. I think I prefer much of the old design still, though. I still think the new center stack looks pretty hokey.

I tested a car with SS so I felt like handling was primarily unchanged. I didn't really get a chance to play with the steering. The car accelerates quietly, effortlessly, and smoothly....but most importantly without any drama. My wife loves this. I find it very troubling.

Without a doubt if I were to purchase an 07, an upgraded exhaust and intake would be an absolute priority.

Faron, did I notice that the cars are carrying a significant markup?

They did seem a bit pricier compared to a similarly optioned R53. I think if I do a configurator and option an R56 out similar to mine then it will be about $3k more at least. I'll have to try it.

I still prefer the interior, quirks, and drama of the R53. The R56 will probably reach a wider audience by being more mature and comfortable though.

I made it to the unveiling party last Friday. Similar to most things in life - the R56 has its advantages and disadvantages.

With out a doubt, the highlight of the event was Faron's dramatic and eloquent speech as they slowly uncovered the car – you had to be there. :thumbsup

My 5 year old daughter, while sitting in the yellow Cooper S in the show room, turns to me and says "I think I want this one daddy, when do I get to drive?" :eek2
