I've had mine out to conserve weight and my wife doesn't believe that Mini owners do this- I bet her that I'm not alone on this stunt... -Jeffy.

I only had mine out a couple of weeks to install a sub. The rest of the time it has been in cause I do use it to put people back there.

I left the bottom seat cushion in place since it weighs almost nothing and looks better than without. The seat backs are heavy though, probably having to do with safety. I have a 1970 Datsun 240Z- a study in light weight, but probably the least safe in a crash of anything on the road. My Mini is 500lbs. heavier, but it is full of safety measures. People are surprised when I close the door on the Mini- pretty solid, quality sound on such a small car. I always marveled at how good Mercedes doors sounded when you shut them, now I have a car with that same quality. Hopefully I can keep it. -Jeffy.

I remove the back seats when I go to the track. All that stuff weighs 20 pounds or so. More room for my stuff without worrying about screwing up the leather. Otherwise I keep it in....especially when I was taking it in for warranty work.

You know there is a company that sells a carpeted filler panel you can put back there if you would like a more finished look. But you can probably fabricate your own for less money.

I've thought about removing the back seats because I never use them (for people). I have them down a lot for carrying golf clubs. The only reason I haven't taken them out is because when they are up there is a significant decrease in road/exhaust noise. If I can solve that problem, out they go!

If you need a solution for quieting the ride, I can provide guidance.

This is on my to do list. I have the material (from B-Quiet) and new speakers in the garage. I've been through all your photos numerous times and will be using them as a guide. I just need to find the time!

My Datsun 240Z has no back seats... Or power steering, air conditioning and no air bags. In fact, it's seatbelts have no inertia reels- their fixed to whatever length you adjust them to. After driving a 1970 240Z, my mini feels like a BMW, or something like that... ;) -Jeffy.
