I’ve placed viscoelastic sound deadening material on most of the internal cabin skin, doors, and plastic trim panels (photos in the last few pages of my gallery), and ever single application has made a difference in how much noise gets to me, but the latest treatment has had a profound effect. I had already placed Dynamat in the exhaust channel under the chassis to the sides and behind the shifter, this time I covered the section in front of the shifter and added a heat barrier material as a top layer.

In addition, I placed a double layer of the heat barrier to the firewall behind the header and under the heat shield.

Adding the extra coverage has almost eliminated forward exhaust noise and highway hum. I’m tempted to go over the firewall again with some sound deadening material even though what’s in place is working.
