View Full Version : Dinan vs JCW
Anyone looked into this...
Is the Dinan stuff under warranty? From past expirience, anything DINAN installed is under factory BMW warranty. Does this hold true for the MINI?

My understanding is that Dinan products are not covered under the MINI warranty. MINI has a deal with JCW as their official tuner so if they made other products official and covered under warranty then it would kind of undermine the prestige of JCW I guess. Dinan does have there own warranty for parts, so if something did happen then it should be covered under that. I've read on the forums that if you have a friendly service department then they will take care of any warranty work that would come up, but if they don't want to help you out then you will have to communicate with Dinan yourself. The only truly covered under warranty mods are JCW. BMW does have a relationship with Dinan and they cover it under the BMW warranty, but MINIs relationship is with JCW so Dinan products with MINI are a little different from what I understand. If you had the MINI Center install it and talked to them about the warranty issue, then they may be more willing to cover it.
With mods I think you have to decide whether to go JCW or aftermarket. If you want warranty coverage for sure then go JCW. If you want inexpensive power and many options, but maybe not as refined then go aftermarket. The Dinan kit just seems too much like the JCW and if you are going to consider the Dinan upgrades then why not just go for the JCW. :thumbsup
