Does anyone have any pics of the arches and skirts being either painted or vinyl white? I have seen many of the painted arches to match the body color, which looks great, but I was thinking of doing mine white to match my roof.............. looking for pics/advice. thanks!

I saw two of them this weekend. I asked if it was a special skirt instead of the plastic one and they said no. THey just had the black plastic sanded primered and painted to match the body.

One guy had bought the Euro side skirts and had all the plastic bits painted to match the body paint. I think I got a good shot of the blue one, I'll post it if I do.

BTW.. Welcome aboard :thumbsup Where are you located?

Hmm...k-huevo and I were talking about a white bonnet scoop to match the roof today. They have a new one coming out on the '06s that's either white or silver, but it looks very cool. This is only applicable to S's though. It's probably possible to buy a pepper white scoop and replace the original one with that.

The arches and side skirts in white is an interesting idea though. You could probably get an aero kit in white and put that on. I've never seen one like that.

If I could afford the aero kit, I would in a second! I might take a good pic of my baby and then use paint shop or something to color the arches white to get a visual. I am really looking to do something different, though painting them Indi Blue to match the body would also rock. I am in Northern Cali. Anyway, keep a look out! It'd be sweet if I were the first one to do it, only if it looks good of course.............

hey coopergirl,

Good to see you here too. I left a post on your thread (ariercetinberk).
I have aero kit on the way, and depending on my finances might paint the wheel arches. the biggest problem with the arches is that they come textured, so it needs real good job. Couple of places here said that they would not touch it, but a local shop is willing to practice it, they even said, if they mess up they will buy replacements, and I know the guys. Aero kit painted and installed is costing me $1,400.00 (I got a good deal on the kit), painting the arches and the bumpers' bottom part is another $500.00 and the shop is very reputable, they do all the body work for BMW and Ferraris here.

the only thing that I am debating is how clean I will keep the arches and especially the bottom part of the front bumper. Because down the strecth the car will be lowered, so it will take some beating occasionally and I will hate to see the paint coming off. That is the second thing that holds me off to think about it. Anyways, you can see my car on here or my NAM gallery, and when I get the aero kit installed, will let you know.

I need an official photgrapher to go with me places :) I get so wrapped up in whats going on I forget to take pictures. But Greg saw the Blue one with the painted arches. The owner said the MINI Center did them. He only has the Euro side skirts and they are painted also.

Berk,

Let me know how yours turn out.. I am seriously thinking of having this done. Makes Zainoing the car so much easier :D

Will,

If you are seriously interested, we might get a deal together. Seriously, I think we need to talk about it.

I did see the blue one and it looked great. I think the painted arches work better with certain colors though. I like having the dark color on the bottom of mine with the white wheels, mirrors, and roof adding some contrast to the red and black. I just don't think it would look right with everything on the bottom white too. The white hood scoop I like though. :thumbsup

I bought an unpainted hood scoop today for almost half off at the MINI Center. The guy working the parts counter was Rene Ramirez and he was pretty cool. He asked me how the MINI owners know more about the parts then they do. :D

Anyways, for those interested in the painted aero kit I also asked him about that. He said bring in any price you have and he will beat it. I have to have the scoop painted and he recommended Cesar at Quilantan's Paint and Body...apparently they have done work on Ferrari's. I think someone might have mentioned that place before on this forum. I will probably take it there soon and get it painted white then I will have a white scoop! I'm excited about this! :D

Well, never heard that place, but Loredo Body Shop on Nacoma is a very reputable place known for Ferraris and BMWs for a long time. They are expensive and due to heavy schedule, it might take more time than expected.

My favorite place is Vollmer Service Center, which is a common body shop BMW Center as well, the person you need to talk to is Carie, phone number is 210-732-2201. She is a sweet-heart  , and they do quality job. If you need bodywork or paintjob, at least get a quote from her and tell her that Berk gave you her number (for that extra etch in customer service).
